The PERSUIT MCP is your gateway to Persi from outside PERSUIT. It connects Persi to Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and other MCP-enabled AI assistants, so your team can use PERSUIT's pricing data, firm insights, Requests and other platform data without leaving the assistant they already work in.
Why it matters
Legal teams are using fewer platforms, and the AI assistant is becoming the front door to all of their work. People now ask Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot first and expect the answer to come back inside the conversation. Tools that don't connect to that front door get left behind.
The PERSUIT MCP puts PERSUIT inside that front door. Legal AI can draft and research, but it can't tell you what work should cost or who should do it. PERSUIT can, and the MCP brings that answer to the moment the decision is made.
How it works
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to business systems. PERSUIT runs one MCP server that any compliant assistant can connect to. When you ask a question, your assistant calls Persi through the MCP. Persi then retrieves your organization's PERSUIT data, or runs a capability such as benchmarking, and sends the results back into your conversation.
What you can do from inside your AI
Understand market pricing
- See what a matter typically costs, by type and location, with a breakdown by phase and activity.
- Compare hourly rates by role, from senior partner to paralegal.
Find the right firms and lawyers
- Get recommended firms and lawyers for a matter, with the reasons each one fits.
- Search firms by practice area, location, panel status, spend or diversity certification.
- Look up a firm's full profile: rankings, size, offices, practice mix and your history with it.
- Find lawyers by name, firm, practice area, title or location.
Manage your panels and firm lists
- See your panels and saved firm lists at a glance.
- Check which firms are on a given list.
Run and review Requests
- Find past and current Requests by title, scope, status or date.
- Get the full detail of any Request: scope, pricing structure, questions, timeline and invited firms.
- Compare the proposals firms submitted, including line-item pricing and their answers.
- Review evaluation scorecards and how each firm scored.
Start a new Request
- Get template suggestions that fit your matter.
- Generate a draft Request (scope of work, pricing structure, deliverables and questions), ready to review and publish in PERSUIT.
Track your matters
- Search matters by practice area, type, location, status, budget, priority or risk.
- Get the full detail of any matter, including your organization's custom fields.
Measure results
- Report on spend and savings, platform adoption, workflow bottlenecks, firm performance, diversity, and use of alternative fees and reverse auctions.
- Check your organization's business rules.
Review invoices
- Get a first-pass review of a law firm invoice. It flags block billing, vague narratives, excess staffing, duplicate entries and work outside the agreed scope.
Get expert guidance
- Draw on PERSUIT's Legal Advisory Team for guidance on Requests, reverse auctions, panels, alternative fees, rate negotiations and spend analysis.
Available tools depend on your PERSUIT subscription and user permissions.
How you stay in control
- Your identity: each user signs in as themselves. Every action runs as that named user, with the same permissions they have in PERSUIT.
- Read-focused by design: the PERSUIT MCP mostly reads and analyzes data. The only thing it can create is a draft Request.
- People commit: the assistant prepares the work. Reviewing, inviting firms, publishing and awarding always happen in PERSUIT.
- One system of record: all engagements stay recorded in PERSUIT, from Request to paid invoice.
- Admin-controlled access: nothing is available until your organization turns it on and grants access to users.
Getting started
- Ask your PERSUIT team to enable MCP for your organization.
- Your AI administrator adds the PERSUIT connector once.
- Group Managers grant access to the users who need it, or turn it on for everyone.

What it can't do
- It can't publish or send anything. It can create a draft Request, but it can't publish Requests, invite firms, contact firms, run auctions or award work. You finish those steps in PERSUIT.
- It can’t edit anything that already exists. It can read your Requests, proposals, matters, firm lists and other platform data, but it can’t change any of it (yet). The only thing it can create is a new draft Request.
- It can't see beyond your permissions. If you can't see something in PERSUIT, you won't see it through the MCP.
What to expect
The PERSUIT MCP gives your AI assistant access to PERSUIT tools, but PERSUIT doesn't control how the assistant uses them. Each assistant decides for itself when to call a tool, how to interpret the results and how to present them. That means the same question can produce different answers in Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant.
AI assistants can also make mistakes. An assistant may summarize data inaccurately, leave out details, or say it has completed an action it hasn't. PERSUIT is always the source of truth, so check the result in PERSUIT and review all outputs before you rely on them or share them with outside counsel.
Capabilities will keep expanding over time.
