In PERSUIT's Firm Profiles, you can set and define commercial arrangements for your engaged firms on PERSUIT. You can set up things like volume discounts, secondees, training hours and create custom arrangements to create transparent value models that streamline information and ensure consistent management.
In this article, you’ll learn how to:
- Navigate a Firm’s Commercial Arrangements
-
Add Commercial Arrangements
- Pre-Built Commercial Arrangements
- Custom Commercial Arrangements
- Edit Commercial Arrangements
- Delete Commercial Arrangements
Note: In order to be able to manage a firm’s commercial arrangements for your organization, you must have Template Manager access. If you don’t have Template Manager access, but would like to, please reach out to a Group Manager in your organization.
Navigating a Firm’s Commercial Arrangements
In a firm’s profile page within Firm Profiles (LINK ARTICLE), you’ll see a Commercial Arrangements section.
At the top of the Commercial Arrangements section, you’ll see a search bar to search existing arrangements by key word or name.
You’ll see a Sort drop down to organize the existing commercial arrangements.
Using the Filters button, you can filter by Date Range, Type, Label and Status to focus the necessary commercial arrangements.
If your organization has any existing commercial arrangements in our platform with this firm, you’ll find them listed in this section.
Each commercial arrangement has a status that populates as you update the completion progression. There are three different statuses available:
- Active - this commercial arrangement is live but not yet used/progressed
- Partially Utilized - this commercial arrangement has been partially used/partially progressed
- Utilized - this commercial arrangement is fully used up, no more arrangements available
You’ll find the date range this commercial arrangement is applicable, or live, with this firm, and the total amount this arrangement is set for.
To the right of the commercial arrangement, you’ll find the completion/progression tracker which informs you how much of the commercial arrangement has been used.
Adding New Commercial Arrangements
You can create multiple types of commercial arrangements tailored to each firm's needs. Choose from pre-built options like Volume Discounts (which have a distinct setup structure) or create fully custom arrangements to track the specific parameters relevant to your engagement with that firm, like secondees or training sessions.

Volume Discount Arrangements
Creating volume discount agreements in PERSUIT allows you to capture real contract complexity including multi-tier discount structures, decimal rates, carve-outs (always-excluded categories), and conditional exceptions.
To add a new Volume Discount commercial arrangement, start in the Commercial Arrangements section and click the + Volume Discount button.
The Create New Arrangements window appears.
Step 1 - Names and Dates
The first step in setting Volume Discount commercial arrangements is to define the names and dates.
- Data Source - Using this dropdown, choose how you track the data within this arrangement.
Note: currently, the only option available is Manual. PERSUIT’s e-billing, which is coming soon, will allow for automated tracking.
- Name and Status - Name the agreement.
- Duration and Dates - Set the length this volume discount arrangement should be active and live. Choose the duration, the effective date and end date.
- What Spend Counts - Select how spend is counted toward tier progression whether by Net Fees or Gross Fees.
- Recognition Timing - Choose between Billed Spend, which accrues on the invoice date, and Paid Spend, which accrues only when payment is received.
- Discount Calculation - Define the period and pricing method for discount tiers.
- Expiration Reminder - You can set a toggle to notify you 30 days before this commercial arrangement is set for expiration.
Press Next to move to Step 2.
Step 2 - Tiers
The next step of setting Volume Discounts is defining the tiers, thresholds, and their corresponding discount rates.
- Currency: Define the currency this Volume Discounts commercial arrangement should be set in.
- Tier Type: Define the types of tiering this Volume Discounts commercial arrangement should have. Choose from Threshold, Range, or Rebate.
- Tier Application: Choose whether Volume Discount tiers are applied retroactively or going forward.
- Setting Tiers: In this Tier builder, define the range of values that should be tracked and the related discount that will be applied if this value range is met. Add additional tiers by pressing + Add Tier.
Note: Depending on the Tier Type chosen will determine the fields that are required to be filled out here. Every tier type will require a “From” amount, but an “To” amount is optional. If you leave the end amount blank, the tier will extend indefinitely from the starting amount.
- Summary: This section gives you a preview of what the tiers will look like.
Press Next to move to Step 3.
Step 3 - Exclusions
Exclusions from Tier Qualification
This section is where you define what spend does not count toward its tier thresholds. These exclusions affect qualifications only.
- Net Fees Exclusions - If Net Fees are chosen as the Fee Scope in Step 1, there will be required derived exclusions and disbursements from tier qualifications.
- Tier Qualification Category - This is where you can pick and choose additional categories that do not count towards tier thresholds. If Net Fees were chosen, the Taxes and Disembursements categories will be pre-selected and uneditable.
Exclusions from Discount Eligibility
This section defines what spend may count toward thresholds but will not receive a discount once a tier is reached.
- Discount Eligibility Category - Select the categories that will be excluded from discount eligibility.
- Context/Notes - Use this to document billing expectations or special rules, including invoice-level vs true-up, stacking rules, or definitions for exclusions. These notes are reference-only and do not create billing logic.
After you have filled out all the sections within this Volume Discount creator, press Create to finalize the commercial arrangement.
The created Volume Discount commercial arrangement will live at the top of the Commercial Arrangements Section.
Volume Discounts commercial arrangements can also be duplicated to create a new Volume Discount arrangement. Click the Duplicate button to do so and a new commercial arrangement will be created as a duplicate of the original.
Custom Commercial Arrangements
Beyond Volume Discounts, you can create custom commercial arrangements for your specific business needs. Common examples include:
- Helpdesk - Track free assistance and support provided by the firm
- Training Hours - Track up-skilling sessions and RFIs
- Secondees - Track the number of secondees available from the firm
Next to + Volume Discount, click on the Down Arrow and then click + Other to add a custom, commercial arrangement.
The Add New Arrangement window will appear where you can define the Type of arrangement this is and set the Date Range this arrangement will be live.
Define the Unit type for this commercial arrangement, whether by Count, Amount, Hours Used, or Other, and the Total Limit of this commercial arrangement. This will be the tracking parameters of the commercial arrangement.
You can add Custom Labels, and more depending on the arrangement type to ensure clarity and purpose.
Press Save to finalize the creation of your commercial arrangement.
The created commercial arrangement will live at the top of the Commercial Arrangements Section.
