PERSUIT’s Negotiation feature centralizes all negotiation in one place.
If you have been sent a negotiation through PERSUIT, it is fully up to you to amend your pricing and strategy accordingly, but the platform requires you to respond in order for the in-house client to be able to move forward with selecting your proposal.
When a negotiation is sent to you, you’ll receive an email entitled “Proposal revision requested by <Customer Name>” and you’ll see a new Awaiting Revision status at the top of your proposal.
How do I respond to a negotiation?
Responding to a negotiation simply involves revising your proposal and there are a few different ways to accomplish this depending on the stage of the request.
- Open to Proposals Stage
- Evaluating Stage
- Proposal is not yet in the “Reopened Request for Firm” status
- Proposal is in the “Reopened Request for Firm” status
Open to Proposals Stage
If the request is in the Open to Proposals stage, you can easily respond to the negotiation by revising your proposal. This article here has more information on how you can do that.
Make any necessary changes. The Revision History at the top of every proposal provides a full change log.
If you don’t find any changes necessary when you’ve received a client’s negotiation, you’ll still need to “revise” and resubmit your proposal. You don’t need to update or change any sections within the request’s body but you will need to fill in the Revision Comments section, explain why no revisions have been made, and then press Submit to finalize.
You’ll know your counter proposal has been submitted correctly when you see the Awaiting Revision status disappear.
Evaluating Stage
- Proposal is not yet in the “Reopened Request for Firm” status
- Proposal is in the “Reopened Request for Firm” status
Proposal is not yet in the “Reopened Request for Firm” status
If the client sent a negotiation while the request was Open to Proposals but were unable to respond before it moved into the Evaluating stage, your proposal will have an Awaiting Revision status.
You will not be able to make any changes to your proposal in the Evaluating stage, the Revise button will not be available. The in-house client can reopen the request for your firm which will give you access to revise your proposal. Please reach out to the in-house client by using the Messages feature and ask them to do so.
Once reopened, you’ll see a new status that reads Request Reopened for Your Firm alongside the Awaiting Revision status.
After you make the necessary updates, the Awaiting Revision status will disappear.
The client will close the request for your firm and once the “Request Reopened for Your Firm” also disappears, you won’t be able to make additional changes to your proposal.
Proposal is in the “Reopened Request for Firm” status
If your proposal already has both Awaiting Revision status and Request Reopened for your Firm status, you will easily be able to revise your proposal and make necessary changes.
After the necessary updates are made, the Awaiting Revision status will disappear.
The client will close the request for your firm and once the “Request Reopened for Your Firm” also disappears, you won’t be able to make additional changes to your proposal.
