PERSUIT allows proposed fees to be entered with decimals, i.e. a fraction of a whole integer number.
Law firms and providers typically use this when entering a price per deliverable (e.g. $2.50 per document), or a timekeeper's hourly rate (e.g. €250.50).
International decimal separator nuances
We recognize that many countries outside of the US and UK do not use a period (".") as a decimal separator for non-integer numbers. Instead, they use a comma (",").
⚠️ However, fee proposals on PERSUIT must adhere to the US format.
You should use periods only for decimal values (non-whole numbers). Use commas to separate thousands.
Example usage in PERSUIT:
Two dollars and fifty cents:
✅ $2.50
❌ $2,5
Twenty-five thousand, five hundred euros:
✅ €25,500
❌ €25.5
Entering prices using only cents, and less than one unit of currency
✅ A "0" needs to entered preceding the decimal period.
For example, to provide a price of 3 dollar cents for an item, "0.03" would be entered into the price field in order for the system to recognize the price as a valid amount.
❌ Typing ".03" will yield an error message.
