PERSUIT's Business Rules gives your organization a central place to define structured thresholds and routing logic specific to your business. These rules are applied consistently across PERSUIT, like Persi and Matter Intake, so the right rules are always in play, wherever they're needed.

Navigating to Business Rules
First, go to Settings in the navigation menu to the left of any page.
In Settings, click on Rules & Governance.
You’ll find the Business Rules section in the Rules & Governance page.
Setting Business Rules
The first thing you can do in Business Rules is use the free-text field. Use it to describe your organization's outside counsel governance, thresholds, and routing logic in plain language.
Rule Examples
Here are some examples of rules that can be added:
- Practice area governance: "IP litigation matters must go through an RFP process."
- Budget thresholds: "Matters over $75k should involve at least three panel firms."
- RFP Creation: "All RFPs must include the "XXXX" in the title."
- Firm preferences: "Use panel firms for regulatory investigations where possible."
You can also simply upload an existing business rules file using the drag and drop uploader.
Once ready, press Save & Analyze. The business rules you’ve added will be analyzed by AI to ensure that all rules are valid, clear and supportable. This will publish the business rules to the platform.
The Preview Live Rules section will populate after the AI analysis has generated the business rules based on your input. This will show you what the rules look like that are published.
If there are any rules considered invalid, Warning messages will appear at the top of the Preview section.
Editing Business Rules
You can make any corrections or edit/update existing business rules back in the free text field or by re-uploading an updated business rules file. Press Save and Re-Analyze to finalize the changes and updates.
Viewing Past Business Rules
You can also view past versions of business rules using the Last Edited drop down at the top right of the page.
When you select the appropriate version, a preview window will appear. You’ll have the option to revert back to this version by pressing Revert To This Version.
Clearing Business Rules
If you need to start from scratch or quickly remove all the applied business rules, you can clear everything at once by using the Clear Rules button.
You can always revert to an earlier version of business rules to reverse this action.
